Why is the FYLL project important? Keep reading to see.
Strenghtening Employability of Young People
The project is developed from the analysis of critical issues that characterize the geographic areas of insistence of the project, among them, irregular labor, precarious and poorly paid labor supply, low awareness of young people about workers' rights, low diversification of labor supply, which results in a predominance of non-contracted jobs and a strong presence of seasonal and/or precarious jobs. FYLL aims to raise awareness among young workers in order to reduce exposure to undeclared work and limit cheap labor, which feeds the cycle of exploitation and irregularity, while providing for increased awareness regarding the benefits of regular and contracted hiring and a more correct employer culture, fostering intergenerational dialogue. FYLL therefore works on youth employability in two contextual manners, on the one hand by offering activities and skills to young people, and on the other by aiming to raise awareness of the local business
fabric.
Common values, civic engagement and participation
During the scheduled workshops, young people will be directly involved in the creation of a label (Fair Youth Labor Label) certifying a fair and responsible labor supply, opening up spaces for debate regarding the importance of active involvement in combating irregular labor. The conception, production and distribution of the label by the young people involved constitutes an alternative form of active participation in public life, an assumption of responsibility by young people in terms, above all, of their vision of their own future, individually and as a group.
Reinforcing Links between policy, research and practice
FYLL will focus on the analysis of current policies, the search for innovative solutions through the active participation of young people in public life, and concrete practice to implement changes. The project aims to put young people at the center of activities and public discourse, and so with respect to this priority as well, it will be young people who will take the lead in activities: young people will be provided with training on current national and European regulations and policies
in place (POLICY), young people will be provided with tools for their own individual and group research on regulations, workers' rights, the position of employers, and the reception and application of policies in the various territories (RESEARCH), again young people will be offered tools, etiquette in particular, to affect the practice of the appilcation of regulations on workers' rights in their own territories of reference and more generally in Europe (PRACTICE).
