On June 9 and 10, 2025, a two-day training for teaching professionals was held in Dolna Mitropoliya Municipality, organized by trainers from the “Proekteka” Association. A total of 54 teachers and members of the pedagogical staff took part in the training, which is part of Activity 2 – Training for teaching professionals to acquire, develop, and apply competences for democratic culture within the framework of intercultural education in a multicultural environment.

The trainings are implemented within the framework of a project led by Dolna Mitropoliya Municipality in partnership with Secondary School “Vasil Aprilov”, Primary School “Hristo Smirnenski”, Primary School “St. St. Cyril and Methodius”, Kindergarten “Happy Childhood”, and the “Proekteka” Association.

The training module focused on key themes from the Reference Framework of Competences for Democratic Culture, including: safeguarding human dignity and human rights, cultural diversity, democratic values, justice, equality and the rule of law, as well as intercultural mediation.

Throughout the training, participants had the opportunity to develop practical skills for working with children in bilingual and multicultural environments, to discuss the challenges of educating children from Roma backgrounds, and to explore innovative methods and materials based on role-playing, gamification, and experiential learning.

The training also featured specific educational programmes, including:

“Game Methodology” – aimed at inclusion and prevention of discrimination;

“Creative and Critical Thinking” – focused on the development of soft skills and innovative teaching practices;

“Conflict Management and Educational Mediation” – building skills for non-violent communication and conflict resolution in school settings.

These trainings will contribute to improving the quality of the educational process, enhancing children's social integration, and fostering a tolerant and inclusive learning environment. Participants will be able to apply the knowledge gained by developing their own materials and activities tailored to students from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
