On January 14, 2020 a celebration of the Bango Vasil holiday was held in the community center "Vasil Levski 1911" in the village of. Bozhuritsa.
Learning about the traditions, their history of origin, their expression is one of the ways to overcome the layered negative stereotypes. Often on the surface is very little of the cultural, domestic and social reason for the emergence and practice of traditions. Each ethnic community has a few main festivals and some basic elements - dress, music, food, specific customs, competitions, etc. - are usually woven into the way they are conducted.
Understanding the basics of these differences, knowledge of the specific culture, lifestyle, family and social values of other communities lies at the heart of good coexistence, successful work in work collectives, in solving problems related to the common interests of the settlements.
For the preparation of the celebration and all the accompanying events, an active role was played by the representatives of the local community - the Chitalishtes, the town halls of the small settlements, the mediators of the project and the representatives of the municipality of Dolna Mitropolia and the Association Projecteka. Numerous meetings were also held with the representatives of the local Roma community to prepare the festivities.
A program and a scenario of the celebrations were prepared in advance. The local traditions of the celebration were told and recreated by participants from the local community and amateur artists from the Chitalishte. Special attention was paid to the preparation of the celebration in the family and on the activities preceding the actual celebration. The topic of Roma culinary traditions, making of survakniks, reincarnation of a family member in Bango Vasil, saying prayers before the festive dinner, the so-called "forgiveness" between family members, etc. was also presented.
61 persons participated in the event.
The activity was implemented as part of Project No. BG05M9OP001-2.018-0033-C01, "Integration of vulnerable groups in Dolna Mitropolia municipality". The project is implemented with the financial support of the Operational Programme "Human Resources Development" 2014-2020, co-financed by the European Social Fund of the European Union.
